Our Mission: Through proper guidance and exemplary leadership, the Gilbert Softball Little League program assists young ladies in developing the qualities of citizenship, discipline, teamwork and physical well-being. By espousing the virtues of character, courage and loyalty, the Little League Softball program is designed to develop superior citizens rather than superior athletes.

changes to the upcoming season below!!!
Gilbert Softball Families,
Our current Board of Directors, and members at large, are currently in the middle of preparing and planning for the upcoming season. During a board meeting on Tuesday, December 13th, 2017, it was brought to our attention by the Rules and Competition Committee to address the way our league will evaluate and draft teams for the upcoming Spring Season.
As we mentioned previously, we at Gilbert Softball Little League sent out a customer survey to get your feedback and comments with regards to the 2016 Spring Season. We heard your feedback, and based on the consistency of what we heard with the indiscretions that took place, the Rules and Competition Committee has made a proposal with regards to the upcoming seasons for the Minors, Majors, and Juniors/Seniors divisions (Ponytails and T-Ball divisions will not be affected by this decision).
The Board of Directors overwhelmingly approved the proposed new evaluation and drafting process, and also obtained approvals from our District Administrator, Western Region Little League, and Little League Williamsport Headquarters (authorized approval documents can be requested for viewing).
This is the summary of the new evaluation and drafting process:
- ALL players (including Managers daughters) will attend a MANDATORY evaluation in which each player will be given a series of drills to display their level of skills, including pitching
- Players will be placed on teams by the league using each Manager’s Total Pitchers/Players Average Score to “balance” the talent level across ALL teams
- Managers may not request players, and NO assistant coach’s players will be frozen. Once rosters have been finalized, NO Trades, and NO other “gentlemen’s agreements” will be made for players
- We will no longer be honoring team, player, or coach requests for the Minors, Majors, and Jrs/Srs divisions.
We want all members to know that this decision was not made lightly, and many, many hours were put into addressing the current issues we have with our team draft and evaluation process we have today, including investigating the improprieties that were displayed during our 2016 Spring Season, as well as previous seasons.
Because of this, the GSLL will make reasonable efforts to balance team talent using the new rules/guidelines presented in our last board meeting. Our goal is to make all teams begin the season with a workable starting framework, and to discourage fraud or dishonesty during the evaluation and drafting process. Anyone found to be subverting the Evaluation/Draft process, or coercing players/parents/coaches to subvert the Evaluation/Draft process, will be subject to severe disciplinary actions going forward.
If there are any other questions or concerns about the new evaluation and draft processes, please contact our league president at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank You For Your Continued Support,
Gilbert Softball Little League Board of Directors
To Our Volunteers,
Going forward, we will be performing our background checks entirely online through our new league management system, enabling us to be more efficient, concise, and secure. You will need a picture of your Driver's License to provide to our system to verify all checks are completed if you plan on applying for a Coach or Team Parent position, so have your DL ready as you go through the application process.
We are always looking for volunteers to help with operating our league, so we are thankful for your willingness to help our girls develop and grow as ball players, mentors, and leaders. Without volunteers, this league does not exist.
